PinNote Privacy Policy

PinNote is a macOS screenshot, annotation, and desktop pin app by Ryu Studio: capture, add numbered markers and notes, then pin the result on top of your desktop. Everything runs on your Mac, and the app itself does not connect to the internet. This policy explains what the app handles, where it is stored, how purchases work, and retention or deletion options.

    Data We Collect

    PinNote does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, photo library, advertising identifiers, crash reports, or app analytics. It contains no analytics or tracking SDKs.

    Screen Recording Permission and Screenshots

    macOS requires screenshot apps to have Screen Recording permission. PinNote reads the screen only when you start a capture (global shortcut or the menu bar "Screenshot" item). It never records or captures the screen in the background. Capturing, annotating, notes, and compositing all happen on your Mac.

    Local Storage

    The following data is stored only on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox container: settings (language, shortcut, pin double-click action, etc., in settings.json); and desktop pins (for each pin, the composited preview image, the original screenshot used for re-editing, and annotation/note data, tracked by an index file so pins can be restored after restart). Copied images go only to the system clipboard; saved PNGs go only to the location you choose in the system save panel.

    Network Use

    The PinNote app itself does not connect to the internet: it contains no networking code, and the Mac App Store version does not request network access. App updates are delivered through the Mac App Store, and in-app purchases are handled by Apple's StoreKit system service.

    Purchases and Subscriptions

    PinNote Pro is offered as a lifetime unlock (com.ryustudio.pinnote.pro_lifetime) and as monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions, all processed by Apple through the App Store. The app never receives or stores your payment information; it only reads the purchase and subscription status provided by Apple to determine whether Pro features are available. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be managed or cancelled anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings (App Store account settings). Use "Restore Purchases" in the app after changing devices or reinstalling, and request refunds via reportaproblem.apple.com. PinNote is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).

    Third Parties and Sharing

    We do not sell your personal data, share your screenshots, pins, or notes with any third party, or use them for advertising tracking. Apple processes purchase-related information under its own privacy policy.

    Retention and Deletion

    All data stays on your device and under your control. You can close or delete pins in the app; deleting the app and its data (its sandbox container) removes all settings, pins, and screenshots. If you contact us by email, we retain the message only as long as needed to respond or as required by law.
